Client questions
Frequently asked questions
Every brand has to meet different safety testing standards. Non-branded cylinders carry a higher
risk of bursting under pressure. IS/UL/FM-approved extinguishers are tested at pressures of 35–50 bar, whereas local
cylinders may fail at just 10–12 bar. Branded products offer reliability, a longer service life, and inspection
approval.
the quantity and type of extinguishers are calculated based on the area, height, and occupancy of your premises. According to the NBC, one extinguisher is required for every 200 m², with a maximum walking distance of 15 metres to reach one. If the area is large, one extinguisher may not be sufficient to provide adequate coverage and protection.
We follow the complete refilling process — pre-weighing, emptying, internal cleaning, MAP powder refilling, nitrogen re-pressurization, or leakage testing. We check every cylinder’s pressure gauge reading and verify its weight. We do not simply apply a new sticker. At The Fire Wala, you receive a refill certificate, tag, and photographic proof along with the refilling service. This process is defined under the NBC and IS 2190.
Cheap refilling may save money in the short term, but it can lead to long-term risks. Most low-grade refilling services in the market use non-MAP powder and non-certified gas, which can cause nozzle blockages and pressure loss within 3–4 months. We use ISI-certified MAP-90 powder and pure nitrogen pressure to ensure that the extinguisher remains stable for 12 months. Cheap refilling can mean false safety and real risk.
After refilling, we provide you with a Refilling Certificate, Test Report, and Sticker (Date & Next Due). We maintain photographic proof of every cylinder. You will receive valid evidence that can be presented during Fire Officer inspections. We believe in transparency and accountability.
We pressure-test and leak-test every extinguisher and attach a ‘Ready for Use’ tag. If a cylinder fails during its AMC period, we provide a free replacement. However, if timely refilling is not carried out, the pressure naturally drops, increasing the risk of failure during a fire. Timely refilling means a working system.
A cylinder has a lifespan of 10 years and must undergo hydrostatic testing every five years. The chances of corrosion or fatigue increase in old cylinders, and they may even burst. The NBC and Fire Department can reject old or expired cylinders. Buying a new system ensures safety and compliance.
Yes, absolutely, During installation and AMC visits, we train your staff on extinguisher types and the PASS technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), as well as evacuation practices. This training is mandatory according to the NBC.
